Cappuccino vs. Latte vs. Macchiato  - Know the Difference?

Cappuccino, latte, and macchiato are popular coffee drinks with distinct flavours. This brief guide compares cappuccino, latte, and macchiato:

Cappuccino

Cappuccinos contain equal parts espresso, steaming milk, and milk foam. Due to the milk foam, it tastes like espresso and is creamy.

Recipe

A shot of espresso (1 ounce). Make creamy milk by steaming an equivalent amount. Serve espresso with steamed milk, spooning off the foam. Stir milk foam into the drink. For taste, sprinkle cocoa powder or cinnamon on the foam.

Latte

A caffè latte has a shot of espresso and more heated milk. It's creamier and smoother than a cappuccino since it has more milk to espresso.

Recipe

Make an espresso shot (1-2 ounces). More milk should be steamed until smooth and foam-free. Cover the espresso with steamed milk almost to the top. A thin coating of milk froth can be added for decorating.

Macchiato

Espresso macchiatos are espresso shots "stained" or "marked" with a little steamed milk or milk foam. The coffee flavour is stronger than a latte or cappuccino.

Recipe

A shot of espresso (1 ounce).Steam some milk until fluffy.A dab of boiling milk or milk froth on espresso creates a "mark" or "stain."Serve immediately to taste strong espresso and creamy milk.
