9 Home Remedies for Thrush

Oral candidiasis, or thrush, is caused by Candida yeast. Home remedies can treat mild thrush, but severe instances may require medical treatment. Here are nine home cures for thrush:

1. Saltwater Rinse

Stir one teaspoon of salt into a cup of warm water. Spit out the saltwater solution after 30-60 seconds of gargling. Reducing oral thrush symptoms requires multiple daily repetitions.

2. Yogurt

To rebuild mouth and gut microbiomes, eat plain, unsweetened yoghurt with active probiotics. You can also apply yoghurt directly to mouth spots for comfort.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Add equal parts water to raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Swishing diluted ACV in your mouth for a few seconds before spitting it out is a mouthwash. ACV may fight Candida overgrowth due to its antifungal characteristics.

4. Coconut Oil

Use a cotton swab or clean finger to apply virgin coconut oil to the afflicted parts of your mouth. Coconut oil includes antifungal caprylic acid, which reduces thrush symptoms.

5. Garlic

Eat raw garlic cloves or crush them to produce a paste and apply to affected areas. Natural antifungal qualities in garlic may fight Candida yeast.

6. Tea Tree Oil

Use coconut or olive oil to dilute tea tree oil. Use a cotton swab to apply diluted tea tree oil on mouth problems. The antifungal qualities of tea tree oil helps treat thrush.

7. Baking Soda Rinse

Stir one teaspoon of baking soda into a cup of warm water. Swish the baking soda solution in your mouth for 30-60 seconds before spitting it out. Baking soda neutralises acidity and inhibits fungal development.

8. Gentian Violet

Your doctor may prescribe over-the-counter gentian violet, an antifungal. For oral thrush, apply gentian violet directly to the afflicted areas.

9. Probiotic Supplements

Probiotic supplements with Lactobacillus acidophilus or other helpful bacteria can restore oral and digestive system microbial equilibrium.
