1. Vinegar

Allicin in garlic may be antibacterial and antifungal. Every day for a week, apply a clove of freshly sliced garlic to the nail for 20–30 minutes. Make sure garlic only touches the nail to avoid skin burns.

Snakeroot is a North American herb. The extract may be antifungal when used topically. Snakeroot extract can be applied directly to the affected nail two to three times a week, but it only lasts three months, so more treatment may be needed.

7. Over-The-Counter Medication

Over-the-counter toenail fungus treatments include Fungi-Nail and Tolnaftate. Use each one according to the package instructions. Different topical fungal nail treatments may work better or worse and take up to a year to work.

8. Prescription topical medications
