5 Heart Failure Symptoms  - Everyone Must Know

When the heart cannot pump blood well, heart failure causes symptoms and problems. Everyone should know these five heart failure symptoms:

1. Shortness of Breath

Sudden or worsening shortness of breath, especially while exercising or lying down, may indicate heart failure. Some call this symptom dyspnea.

2. Fatigue and Weakness

Due to diminished blood flow and oxygen delivery, heart failure can cause unusual weariness, even with light exercise.

3. Swelling (Edema)

Due to heart failure, fluid builds up in the legs, ankles, feet, and abdomen, causing swelling and discomfort.

4. Persistent Coughing or Wheezing

Heart failure can cause pulmonary congestion, which causes chronic coughing, wheezing, and pink or blood-tinged sputum.

5. Rapid or Irregular Heartbeat

Palpitations, a rapid or irregular heartbeat, or chest fluttering can develop with heart failure, especially during exercise or resting down.
